Bruno Krajcar

Bruno Krajcar (born in Pula on August 3rd, 1972) is a Croatian musician, composer, and a singer-songwriter. He has been working for about 30 years as a music editor, radio presenter and a journalist for Radio Pula, for which he’s been working as an editor-in-chief since 2016. He’s also a music producer, ethnomusicologist, and a multi-instrumentalist. He started his music education in Ivan Matetić Ronjgov music school in Pula as a pianist and a music theorist. He later graduated from the Academy of music in Ljubljana (SLO) as an organ-player. Nowadays his music is based mostly on blues, gospel, and jazz which he combines with an Istrian folklore tradition, be it original text, traditional instruments, or Istrian scale. He’s been composing since he was ten and plays many different instruments. His works (more than 500) include popular music, sacral music, songs for kids, incidental music for theatre and documentary films, works for choirs, traditional klapa singing etc. He has been collaborating with many renowned musicians and performing on numerous festivals and concerts in the country and abroad (Europe and USA). He has been awarded many prizes, including a “Status” reward for the best instrumentalist by the Croatian union of musicians (HGU) in 2004, prize by the Croatian society of composers (HGS) in 2007, the “Istriana” award in 2009, as well as esteemed “Porin” rewards for the best ethno and folk music albums in 2008, 2016 and 2020 etc. He lives in Pula, Croatia and is a father of five.
